Records anyone can check.

Veriplex is an open verification federation. Operators can witness each other's logs, so anyone can check what an AI system did, and a history rewritten later no longer matches what the witnesses saw.

It's on by default. Every Zetna install is witnessed automatically, and any operator can witness for the others with one switch. It's built to be handed to a foundation, so no single company runs it, including us.

Why it matters

AI agents now pay, sign, provision systems and send messages for people. When one of those acts is questioned, three questions follow: what did it do, on whose authority, and has the record changed since?

Today each vendor answers with its own logs, which nobody else can check. A record nobody else can check is a claim, not evidence.

How witnessing works

In the design, each witness checks the same checkpoint and signs what it saw. The record holds because the signatures hold each other in place, not because one party vouches for the rest.
  1. A log signs a checkpoint: its size, and a digest of everything recorded so far.
  2. Each witness checks that the new checkpoint extends the last one it signed, then co-signs it.
  3. Whoever relies on the log counts how many witnesses from distinct operators signed, and sets how many it needs.
  4. A history rewritten later no longer matches what the witnesses signed.

Zetna™ runs the first witness and holds it in trust, as custodian, until the federation is handed to a foundation.

A record only the custodian's witness has signed is described as witnessed by the custodian, and we say exactly that.
